Training and Assessments

A1star are constantly striving to offer companies and candidates added value.

Our technical assessments can be utilised as a tool for refresher training that can add to an EMPLOYEE TRAINING RECORD. Whether the refresher is based on health and safety or GMP awareness.

We also provide the opportunity for you or your organisation to utilise our facilities for practical training, particularly in and around GMP.

The output from a typical course will be Quality Assured and can be included in your GMP training record.

If you do not have a GMP training record we can establish these and can help you maintain them as careers develop.

In our purpose equipped training lab, delegates work through a range of SOPs (standard operating procedures) to gain insight to their practical application in a GMP environment.

The SOPs used for training on the course are those in use daily at Agenda1 Analytical Services Ltd. This ensures they remain current in terms of best working practices, health and safety and terminology.

The courses also include an HPLC module, where delegates work through an HPLC analysis.

Course delivery is split between lab work (2.5 days) and personal study which must be completed prior to course attendance. After the course delegates undertake an on line assessment, after which the training record is issued.

A1STaR Candidate Technical Assessment Tests

About the test

Candidates applying for lab roles are assessed across a number of key areas including:

  • Health & Safety, including lab regulations and procedures
  • Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
  • Waste Disposal
  • General HPLC knowledge

Depending on the job, candidate technical tests can cover Basic Health and Safety, Waste Disposal, Manual Handling and using Display Screen Equipment, and Good Manufacturing Practice. Bespoke assessment testing of candidates is also available.

Why assess candidates?

Whilst a candidates' CV provides some indication of experience and academic achievement the CV does not provide an indication of the candidate's general knowledge of lab procedures. A high score in the test indicates the candidate is more likely to be 'Lab Aware', providing a useful indicator to recruiters. A candidate's willingness to complete the test is also a good indicator of candidates' motivation and work ethic.

Assessment results

Recruiters are provided with the full answer set from the assessment. Recruiters can see which questions / question sets were correctly answered and use the results to help build a more complete picture of the candidate, prior to interview.

Take the assessment test

Recruiters are welcome to take the assessment tests – contact your consultant for further details and to be enrolled.
